In regards to playing out spoilers for the event, you could put them under a spoiler cut and warn for them in threads! Then people can use their own discretion on whether or not they'd like to engage in them. A few of our players are doing similar things with their own canon's spoilers so you may look to them for examples.
As for catching Pokemon, there is no limit on how many you may catch per week/month. You can go and catch all twenty in your first day! Just keep in mind that the max that a character can keep at one time is twenty (six in the party, fourteen in the daycare on Toran island) and that you are capped to levelling them by ten per month.
