OOC Plot Discussion [Sep 2020]

Hi friends! Since this game is shaping up to be about the players slowly solving the plot mysteries as well as the characters, and because things have been kind of rapidfire up till now, a couple of us figured that a post to collect our OOC thoughts on the various current mysteries might be useful. This is a post! Please use it for whatever you like - suggesting your own theories, suggesting stuff that your own character might not pursue for whatever reason but other characters might, a place to plot next steps if you prefer it to plurk or discord, it really doesn't matter /o/

Potentially relevant links:
- September mod investigations/questions where we've been getting/pursuing most of the clues
- most recent IC meeting log
- current IC common knowledge cheat sheet courtesy of Haki
- bonus activity submission page including the plot clues given as rewards
(tell me to link something else here and i'll do it)

I have put in some toplevels just for organisational purposes but feel free to make your own or go without!

The Murkrows wanted to play with the sick children inside the hospital, but the windows were always in the way.

The Drifloons target kids.

The kids are targeted individually, one by one.

Yes, yes, and yes! The Murkrow wanted to play with the children inside the hospital. The Drifloon sought out children individually from outside the hospital. For those who have encountered the Drifloon: what did they want?

The Drifloon only target children, individually but they are later brought together. The kids get taken when they're alone. The Drifloon take them to the hospital at night in a secret room, to be friends for a sick girl named Gale. There are also Gastlies in the hospital hypnotizing the staff to allow this to happen and not ask questions. All the kids and Pokémon are pals.

GYARADOS

- Where did the Gyarados come from?
- What is it protecting?
- What is it protecting them from?
- Is it possible, at this moment, to prove one's strength to the Gyarados to win its trust?
- What are other ways to show strength besides physical strength?

The Gyarados came from the ocean to the northwest.

It's protecting its two kids, two Magikarp.

It's protecting them from humans.

It's not possible to beat the Gyarados in a battle right now.

Everything is correct so far! Considering the moves Gyarados knows, it is at a way higher level than any of the pcs' Pokemon at the moment. What about other displays of "strength"? What are other ways to protect somebody without being physically the strongest?

NORTHWEST BEACH

[personal profile] teamboba 2020-09-22 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
- What is the black sand made of?
- Did the black sand originate on this island or outside?
- Why is the water level increasing at the northwest when the rain falls evenly across the entire island?
- Are the abnormalities in the northwest caused by something natural (eg weather) or unnatural (eg Pokemon)?

[personal profile] thaumewturge 2020-09-22 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
-Black sand appears to be lava rock

-no clue how it got there

-the water is increasing faster in the northwest because a volcano is about to burst out of the water

-Groudon is causing the abnormalities

[personal profile] teamboba 2020-09-22 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It's lava rock! There sure is a volcano somewhere at some point (:

The abnormalities is caused by... a Pokemon! But it would be no fun to tell you straight up here who it is, so y'all will just have to wait for the log.

BOBA

- Why did the people become zombies?
- What was in the boba?
- Why was it in the boba?

[personal profile] authoriser 2020-09-22 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
People became zombies due to an immense sugar crash after drinking the boba beverages.

The boba drinks have a combination of Bounsweet sweat, berries, and combee honey.

It was Toran's special secret menu? Since I assume it can only be made in Toran. Each island needs to have its own special drink for marketing strategy, I guess.

Yes! It was a sugar crash and Minato just has an iron stomach.

Yes. Extra sugar came from Bounsweet and berries and that combination might've been no bueno

Sort of! While it was on the secret menu, Toran's "special marketing drink" is Combee honey boba. Why would they need to add or replace honey as a sweetener?
nyom: (Default)

[personal profile] nyom 2020-09-22 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Toran doesn't have a way to manufacture the original sweetener and relies on imports. However, due to the storm, imports are impossible from other islands. Therefore, they had to make do with what they have on the island aka Combee honey.

WORLD

- Is there any way to stop the storm?
- Where would you head to confront the source?

Legendary pokemon are causing the storm.

Not right now, no. Unless we smuggle illegal castforms or rare candy someone to learn sunny day.

... I honestly don't know about the third part. Maybe one of the other islands?

Signs point towards Legendary Pokemon! Definitely not a natural storm.

Haki, why do the Castforms have to be smuggled in illegally............... Y'all can submit bonus activity and hope for hundreds of rare candies, but it'll take a lot of candy and a lot of Pokemon to Sunny Day the entire island for longer than an hour! Maintenance is a full time job without getting to the root of the problem.

Look.... in Itaru's thread, the breeders or whoever were like "lol good luck catching a castform," so i assumed they weren't available

But yeah, I don't think it's doable to stop the storm right now. With the volcano and flooding approaching, we're considering that evacuation has to be a thing, but lightning strikes will be hard to stop even if they have Mudkips for Whirlpools. Considered making hsy's Cramorant to throw Pikachu at it with lightning rod abilities, but. Lol.

Also rip daycare??

What if it were just a shitshow of a dozen Legendaries going at each other---- At this point, the identity of the Lengendary(ies) don't matter as much as that it's not possible to stop while remaining on Toran.

So they know something big and powerful is behind the storms and that they cannot stop it, and also don't know where it is. In that case, any direction is as good as any other, considering leaving the island in any direction means the storm gods are going to zap you out of the water (':

Considering the volcanic lava sand and rising water level in the northwest... Would you (general you, everybody reading this thread you) want to head towards it or away from it?
