It's somehow November!! Congrats on surviving this far, guys, we hope you enjoyed what was supposed to be a break month (': Anyways, please read this post carefully and also leave any questions/concerns/suggestions/etc in the comments so we can make this game fun and accessible for everybody.

⬥ As a reminder, our game's player cap is now 30 and our character cap per player is 3.
⬥ Our plot progression page has been updated for September and October! The main post briefly outlines the main plot, while the comments below details the investigations explored each month. Pending investigations do not necessarily have to be revisited, but may be worth keeping in mind and tying into future investigations!
⬥ The FAQ and bonus activity page has been updated regarding the level cap for traded Pokemon, which is +15 levels a month compared to the usual +10 levels for other Pokemon. This is due to traded Pokemon growing faster, although they are more likely to disobey as their level exceeds the number of badges/ribbons a trainer has. Pokemon gifted from one character to another due to drops also count as being "traded," as they have a different original trainer.

In addition, these are the following changes within the setting:

⬥ Toran has been completely restored following the tsunami and sandstorms to the west of Mango will have died down enough to allow for travel to Melona. All three towns (Toran, Mango, Melona) will be accessible for November.

⬥ With the radio tower antenna being stolen, the radio waves causing the ghost, dark, and psychic Pokemon to rampage in Mango have ceased. Electronic communication continues to not be a thing... maybe someday this will get fixed and it will be a thing. Someday you guys will get a network, but that day is not today (':

→ NOVEMBER 3 - WELCOME TO MELONA

Aka Gale finally gets to go home!! But it'll take a while to travel to Melona across the sandy desert. While the sandstorm isn't harsh enough to completely prevent travel, it still kicks up every now and again, and travelling on your own is ill advised! Guides are available to take groups to Melona, but for anybody attempting to make the trip without one... good luck... Please let us know in an investigation if this is what you decide to do with your life.

Some notable locations in Melona include:

⬥ Pokemon Gym: The second gym is a psychic type gym, but is currently closed due to the gym leader being unavailable. The gym leader will have to be sought out and brought back to the gym, but it is also highly recommended to find him for potential plot information.
⬥ Pokemon Contest: Melona also includes a contest hall, awarding ribbons and other prizes to those who participate! Pokemon may win a normal rank ribbon in any category if this is their first contest, or they can win the next rank ribbon in the same category if it is their second contest.
⬥ Boba Shop: What's a town without a boba shop? Make sure to stop by and get your card stamped!
⬥ Museum: the museum here features ancient Pokemon remains trapped in fossils and amber, collected in the deserts surrounding the town. Fossils can be found during investigations, and characters can potentially revive one of these fossil Pokemon for their own!
⬥ Ancient ruins: scattered around the desert are ruins that remain largely uninvestigated. Which means! you guys should investigate them!! They may be wildly dangerous and potentially lethal, but also consider: treasure.
⬥ Erupting volcano: Uh. So, that volcano from September? Yeah, it's still erupting—- not as actively as before, but the slow ooze of extremely hot magma and the thick ash that falls from the sky prevents further travel to the west, as the heat and lack of oxygen makes it too dangerous. When will it stop? What happened to the town? Haha. You'll see next month.

What wild Pokemon types are there around Melona?

They will be ground, rock, normal, and psychic Pokemon (': Locations page to be updated shortly with the new map, etc.

1) Do the ribbons count towards the pokemon obedience thing if they're just in a different category, but of the same rank? Clever normal, cute normal, etc.
2) Is there easy travel from Melona to Toran for the sake of pokemon switching from daycare instead of having to go through Mango City too?

1) Yes! As long as it's a different category OR a different rank, it will count as a unique ribbon! A normal cute ribbon from Melona and a normal cute ribbon from Mango will count as the same ribbon, on the other hand.

2) A guide can be taken from Melona to the southern shoreline where sailors will be willing to take people to and from Toran— the Mudkips have been shared amongst the sailors to make crossing the sea possible. Since Toran is a "hub" island, you can assume that any new location in the future will have similar access to it via sailors.

Sorry I got another question.

For pokemon who evolve by a special method (stones, trading, etc) and their final evolved form no longer learns moves according to the games, will that be the same in pokespe? Or will they still be learning moves like their pre-evolved form?

It will be like in the games! The Pokemon will have to learn their moves via leveling before evolving, in order to have them.

alrighty here are some vague plans! so fai will want to get a gym badge here too so he can help find the gym leader for anyone who wants to go look for him!

also he's definitely going to be checking out the ancient ruins. since they're dangerous he can be really helpful for that since he has some barrier magic!

Toki and Hana-chan will be competing in contests. That's all I have planned for them. Toki is a disaster and will probably get himself killed if he goes anywhere near the ruins or the volcano.

Yoichi doesn't care about plot things either, but he will look for the Gym Leader because he can't become a Pokemon champion if he can't challenge them.

I'll wing it like usual and am up for anything.

Efina will definitely be moving onto Melona because she is a traveling kid, aim for a gym badge, maybe a contest or two because her pokemon are becoming way too strong, and prooobably ask someone if she could stay with them, because while it was because of Efi that Theo managed to snag shelter separate from the Center, she can't just go up to NPCs and ask them if she can live with them until she moves onto the next town. lmao. I'm planning to use her bonus in which she looks and is mentally older once she gets in Melona! She'll be so excited. Dragon ages are confusing, but she'll still be the happy Efi everyone knows, with some (more) maturity tacked on. She also has two Moon Stones to give away, so let me know if your character would be interested in one for one of the following pokemon: Clefairy, Jiggypuff, Skitty, Nidorina, Nidorino, Munna. If your character doesn't know anything about stone evolutions, we can work something out to get it over to them anyway.

Sooyoung is... idk what she's doing. lol. She'll probably win more contests to keep the pokemon levels under control of her little group consisting of Dokja and Joonghyuk. She'll also visit the ruins, because she's in charge of information gathering.

Hien will continue living out his pokemon life, earning badges and contest ribbons. He'll be regaining his personality possession ability some time over the month so he no longer has to act as his past selves. Possession takes care of that for him. Anyway, he still has a vendetta against Joss, because he thinks he's the mastermind and his right arm will probably still be fucked up for the entire month unless something magical happens. His bonuses are 180 personality flip for a day, catch a bad cold for 2 days, randomly fall asleep for 3 days and more. He also has a "confess a secret" one, but he's pretty open about things, so... Let me know if you'd like to play with them! He hopes he'll like Melona, because it's also the name of his favorite ice cream lol

Anyway! As far as new stuff this month goes, he is interested primarily in locating the gym leader, secondarily poking around the ruins! He will focus on the former at first in case it helps make the latter less aimless, but anyone needs an investigation buddy for either then he'll pretty readily come along. He's also willing to drag other people along if that's easier, and very open to the idea of investigating in slightly larger groups than just pairs. On the side he is also still looking out for clues on legendary Pokemon and may take notes at the museum at least once, but he's less actively pursuing that right now due to lack of obvious progress to date. His investigation relevant skills include being terminally jrpg, limited flight, carrying/moving/deleting things using cards, and negative common sense or planning ability. Please chaperone him before he prevents us from getting a network twice over somehow

As far as ongoing potential plot stuff goes, he is increasingly concerned about how to keep track of new arrivals and catch them up on things, so he'd be motivated to help any characters with actual ideas for that. He still has the radio antenna and a one-time audio recording of the spooky-eyes broken confetti noise on his person in cards, for whatever good they're going to do, but another character is going to steal the antenna off him to the tune of Yakety Sax lol, who knows where it will go...

...and in ongoing CR news the halloween event gave him sense of self issues oops. He does not really have the language to express this but it's something I'm very interested in playing with various angles on, hmu if it sounds fun! If you have specific ideas I am almost certainly up for them in general, let's go let's go /o/

Joss is going to want to explore the ruins, he's used to MMO Parties so I'll happily toss him at any exploration team if that's a thing that's happening. He can sproing! He can carry things! He can stares at things and make them feel mildly uncomfortable! (Last one isn't a power, he just exudes depression vibes.) I'm hoping to have him regain some more dragoon abilities soon so he might be able to go on the offensive too.

Speaking of going on the offensive, he's gonna keep an eye out for Hien because he thinks he's the mastermind. Oops.

On the Pokémon front... He isn't particularly interested in gym battles, he's too shy for contests, and he's kind of a loner when he doesn't know people well so whoops I guess his bird is going to start misbehaving even more eventually. Relatedly (because he sucks at battling) he's also available to run all sorts of errands for money and/or food. This tree is For Hire* so don't hesitate to pester him.

Otherwise, he will be investigating the ruins and learning more on legendary Pokemon if allowed. inb4 there's nothing? maybe i'll also have him regain lie detection or sage's eye, but we'll see for this month.

PLANS and bonuses!!!

1. Hythlo's first order of business is to look after Hien, so he'll mostly be staying put for the first few days.
2. After Mango, he's kiiiind of paranoid about the Possible Weird Shit, so he will attempt to look into it. He's still aware he doesn't really know anything, though, so he'll mostly tag along with others.
3. He will also be breaking into the gym with a toddler to find plot clues. Let's hope there's no police here.
4. Thank god for Pokemon School, Hythlo can finally learn how to do a battle or a contest. He's gonna need it, because his Pokemon have certainly outgrown him now.
5. He regained his magic phone AND ability to store information in rocks this month! I dunno how it will come into play yet, but I feel like it could be useful. They still have no reception, of course.
