→ GENERAL MOD NOTES

Congratulations for surviving till December! We somehow only have five people dead, wow! That's better than we thought. :') Please read through this post carefully and leave any questions/concerns/suggestions/etc in the comments so we can make this game fun and accessible for everybody.

⬥ Melona's gym leader has finally be found! The Pokemon Info page has been updated for further information.
⬥ Speaking of gyms, we have decided to slightly change its format. Rather than having the leader's Pokemon be a set level, their levels will change based on the challenging trainer's Pokemon. For example, if your team's level is from 18 to 20, the leader's team will then be from levels 20 to 23. This is also the same for any Pokemon or trainers who are stationed inside the gym. This allows for characters to challenge the gyms in any order that they want so go off and beat up some KageLeaders.
⬥ Our plot progression page has been updated for November! The main post briefly outlines the main plot, while the comments below details the investigations explored each month. Pending investigations do not necessarily have to be revisited, but may be worth keeping in mind and tying into future investigations!
⬥ The calendar for December is as follows:

→ SETTING CHANGES

The following characters have been dropped from the game with the following statuses:

In addition, these are the following changes within the setting:

⬥ Mango is recovering to become the city that it was before the October incident. Although the radio tower antenna is still missing, no one seems to really mind. The radio and cemetery towers are still closed for investigations.

⬥ The volcano in the not-so-far distance is starting to rumble and the grounds crack. It pours out even larger amounts of magma, the ash is starting to fill the sky, and... oh no.

→ DECEMBER 3 - BYE BYE MELONA

You guys probably should have tried to do something about that volcano, huh? Not that you can stop it, but still. As a result, we're going to have evacuations for Christmas. Fun!

Characters will have to evacuate the townspeople living by the volcano in the west and do their best to minimize the damage that the volcano will have on the city. Notable activities will be tending to the wounded, calming crying children, making shelter, and doing the best that you can when everything is destroyed and everything sucks. There is a silver lining, however. The boba shop will survive! Nice.

This log will be posted on December 3.

→ DECEMBER 15 - THE MODS WILL HAVE MERCY

Despite the rocky beginning, there will be holiday celebrations for the latter half of the month. Depending on the actions of the characters in the first log, the second log may have a number of events going on, such as being a Delibird's helper and giving out gifts, making ashmen instead of snowmen, ashball fights, and such on. The second event log will encompass both Christmas and New Year celebrations. Hopefully, nothing bad happens so we can end off this month with just holiday cheer...

This log will be posted on December 15.

1. How should I tier Hien's memory powers? Is this the following okay:

1) Able to physically manifest memories into film reels. (Other character involvement requires explicit permission from other player) Also, can I make shit up about some npcs like I did in Cetana? (Loan shark granny...)
2) Alter/sort own memories.
3) Alter/sort other people's memories. (With explicit permission from other player)

2. How did Toki die? :(

1) Yes, the tiers look good! You're free to make things up about npcs, absolutely. Altering important npc's memories (eg gym leaders, evil organization members, named npcs, etc) may or may not work, so please check in with the mods before doing so.
2) It's up to Morgan!

i wanted to ask about the state of Cosmoem? while joonghyuk didn't want to disturb it after it woke up and everything about the gym leader, he does have questions for it etc. just wondering if it'll be completely inaccessible!

also looking for insight on tiering one of joonghyuk's abilities called sage's eye.

Sage’s Eye: A skill similar to Kim Dokja's Character List that allows the user to view the Attributes Window of another individual, along with hidden information about them. Causes the user's right eye to glow gold when activated.

I was thinking it would be tiered by:
1) being able to read NPCs (mod permission for important npcs?)
2) being able to read Pokemon
3) being able to read PCs (obvs needs permission)

Sage's eye also has some utility in being able to perceive certain details in a fight, but that's combat related which isn't that helpful here.

Cosmoem is currently being looked after by Konoha! If you want to submit an investigation for it, feel free, otherwise if Joonghyuk plans to talk to Cosmoem alone, please wildcard Ori here and they'll thread out the encounter with you!

For Sage's Eye, what do you think about tiering it 1) Pokemon, 2) NPCs, 3) PCs? Since Pokemon information is akin to Nanami's/Itaru's/four-year-old kids' general Pokedex knowledge, while NPCs are more private information that's a bit harder to extract.

I understand that RL obligations and happenings make it hard to get to things, so I want to suggest that you guys get a helper mod who can handle everything that doesn't have to do with the plot-like things such as bonuses and activity checks (and more), so that the head mods can focus on the more important things, such as game questions and plot investigations. I think it would help lessen the amount of work you guys have, since you're both very busy with IRL things and sometimes you just don't want to do anything when you're done with work (which is fair).

I know Ori brought it up before, but the format of mods replying to the actual IC investigation thread itself is a great idea, so I hope that will be implemented this month, since it looks like there will have to be some mod input from the looks of it... gestures to volcano crisis

Though I also kinda want to reiterate that while investigations are nice to have and that everyone has different availability, can something be done about the more time-sensitive investigations and how long they seem to stretch on? Yes, we have until the end of the month/before next log goes up, but imo, I'd rather not have such a time-sensitive thing (or at least to be implied to be time-sensitive and/or important) last all the way until that deadline, or close to it because that could be a little stressful for the people involved and then trying to wrap everything up all of a sudden. This particularly struck me when I saw the investigations post pop out of the dreamwidth reading list, which meant two weeks had passed since the day it was posted, and it felt like not much had progressed at the time. For something that seemed pretty important, I thought we would at least have at least one response a day, but we ended up shoving a bulk of the responses in very few several days throughout the process when we were like "!!! the mods are available now, everyone gather right this second so we can progress".

Ichi and I will talk about the possibility of comods! But I also want to say that last month was sort of a weird state of things since Ichi was entirely unavailable so it was just me running everything, and outside of work, I needed to prioritize time sensitive threads in my murder game which ate up the bulk of my time and energy when I had them. I'm sorry the investigations felt like they dragged! I didn't mean them to be time sensitive/important in that they needed to be completed before the end of the month. I'll continue to work on how investigations are handled to see what works best for everybody, but I also do not want the expectation that investigations will be replied to at least once a day, at least on my part, while I do try to be here when I can. My own expectation was that the investigations supplement threads, not take the place of them, so I didn't realize intermittent responses were a problem when the actual thread was still several scenes behind anyways. I think the alt style of investigation (mod responses within the thread) will help smooth some of this out? WE'LL WORK IT OUT

Card said everything that I was going to say, but just adding that it was totally my fault that last month was a complete disaster. That was the first time that I ever became completely unavailable so Card didn't get any OOC support and she had to handle everything at once. Now that I'm back and taking a more focused role on modding rather than rping, hopefully, we should be back on track. We will definitely look into helper mods if things don't improve, however.

That's how my characters would have interacted with each other if they actually meet during the crisis. Anyway...

Efi is definitely going to help out in rescue efforts. She has a Wailmer and Swampert in an effort to cool the lava into rock with water. She can also whiz about while flying, but it uses up considerable energy if she does it for too long. She'll most likely fly around if she needs to get somewhere high up or deliver supplies to places there are harder to reach, like trainers who need Potions and Burn Heals. The pokemon items do work on humanoids to some extent, as confirmed here for items and here for pokemon abilities. I don't have anything else planned for Efi, so I'm just kinda winging it. She's gonna try beating up the gym leader, I guess.

Sooyoung is... I never know what she's doing. lol. She can't exactly ignore this crisis, but all the rescue efforts and stuff? She's not doing that. She's still mostly self-serving, but if she vaguely finds you okay, she'll throw a bone if you need help or something. idk. Don't ever ask me what hsy is doing because I won't know either.

Hien, on the other hand, is gonna be busy. I guess. I'm planning on having him regain Memory powers that will only affect himself unless someone wants memory shenanigans like him being able to see your character's memories or destroying them. Whatever. Let me know, because otherwise, I won't be regaining the "affecting other people" bonus. He's gonna be yeeting some of his own memories because he has too much. Your resident 86215628162672 year old grandpa is getting tired. The sad part is, after yeeting what he considers to be "excess", nothing will really change outward. Other than that, he will absolutely invest in rescue efforts and his October injuries have mostly healed! Too bad he's getting burns again. :) He'll never be free of injuries... Also, yes, if there's any incoming lava, his arm will eat it. He can't eat all the incoming lava though... good thing he has his pokemon for assistance. If all goes well, he'll probably buy gifts for friends and stuff for the holidays. Who knows. It's dangerous to future date things.

Another thing to mention is that Hien now has a level cap up to 70 (and Efi up to 50), so if levels are ever an issue (or if you just want your character to obtain booze for whatever reason), let me know. I can just throw them over to you guys. (Efi will not be drinking anything, but if you want a bottle, she'll get it for you if you're nice and provide money for it).

My time zone is EST (-5) and I am generally availble from 5 PM to whenever I decide to fall asleep, which is probably around 12/1 AM on weekdays. Otherwise, my availability is just whatever and inconsistent. The inconsistency will especially hold true from January and onwards, because it's ~tax season~ and I feel like death every year from the sheer amount of stress.

Plans: I have none. I'll be up for any investigations Yoichi can feasibly be involved in, but he doesn't have a lot of close CR and he's not going to be anyone's go-to for group activities yet.

event log - Yoichi is a normal boy... with broken toes. So he's not going to be too much help with evacuations when others have stronger Pokemon and actual powers to maybe help with things. He doesn't have any medical knowledge and dealing with any grievous wounds inflicted on the townspeople is just going to make him sick. So, he'll deal with the crying children instead, and maybe organization of how best to evacuate quickly; maybe theories on the volcano if he actually learns anything about the Legendaries and whatnot, which he hasn't. Hana-chan will be preoccupied with discovering anything about Toki's death ~~before the evidence is washed away in lava~~ (Melona is safe), so there's a sidequest during the chaos for them ig.

christmas: Don't have much at present for the Christmas and New Year's celebrations, because I have learned from Cetana that anything planned that far in the future can take a sharp turn into "okay, this happened, X cancelled".

Joss is absolutely going to help evacuate/participate in rescue efforts if needed, he's a jrpg, it's what he does. He also may or may not feel guilty for not trying to push through the sandstorm to see what was up with the volcano after his Drampa rescued two kids with burns but he was injured at the time and would have just died in the desert or something. F.

Also maybe help any investigation about the student that's still missing if that's something he would feasibly know is happening, he's definitely keeping an eye/ears out either way.

I don't really have other plans right now tbh (other than maybe apping a second character if I have the brain for it) so I'll see what the game throws at us.

... Actually I lied, I hope we don't fuck it up so badly we don't get a Christmas celebration because I want Joss to tell someone about Ishgard's tradition of hanging fish on Starlight trees. It's important for everyone to know his homeland isn't ok.

Timezones-wise I'm GMT+1, my availability is (extended ??? noises) but I'm often more active at night (roughly mid to late afternoon for EST peeps.)

Plans:
- Towards the start of the month I am planning to have Sagi regain his kind-of secondary personality to move his character development on a bit! It's not as drastic a change as that sounds, he's the same person, he'll just get even weirder about talking to himself than he was before :') He will attempt to hide it while evacuations and such are going on, and he's really terrible at lying, so CR can feel free to bully him about it.
- Beyond that he'll be doing the jrpg protag thing of helping with rescue efforts wherever he can, particularly where kids are involved. I don't have concrete plans before we know log details but as always if you want something in particular I'm probably up for it!
- He was aware of the Groudon shrine out in the ruins but totally failed to make any connection with the volcano out in the opposite direction from town until it erupts, lmao. If other characters would belatedly follow up on that lead at some point just in case, he'd probably be down to tag along.
- He's also aware of the villain team plot hook and the one missing Melona student, so 1) he'd have personal interest if anything crops up about them, 2) he's generally soft and helpful so he can be a pretext for any friendly characters to find out about the mysterious villain team if they need it! though he was not there for the Cosmoem investigation (and would be really interested to hear about it ngl)
- I do not want to plan too far ahead in case evacuation or something else ICly goes to shit but he's going to eventually think about making a shitty list of the people in their group who haven't gone missing yet and what their powers/regains are, which will mean him going around bothering everyone personally because that's more his speed than Atsushi (RIP) making surveys. I'm definitely up for related shenanigans and/or CR building related to this so hmu if it sounds like it has potential!
- he absolutely does not know what the fuck christmas is and has never seen real non-pokemon-attack snow in his life. help

fai will be helping out with evacuations! his shield has been upgraded to 20ft in diameter now so he'll be able to protect more people that way! any aftermath stuff he'll be helping with as well. that's all i have for broader plans right now! just come at me for anything, really.

rika will be doing as much as she can... she's tiny so there's not a whole lot she can do, but she'll be around calming crying children and things like that.

so yeah, overall not many plans! i would love to do things for christmas and new year's, but i'm hesitant to get anything set in stone just yet.

as for time zones, i'm in CST (UTC -6)! most of my tagging happens between 7pm-11pm, since i work full time and can't really be on my phone while i'm at work but if you ever need me during work hours please ping me on discord or plurk. i do try and get some tags out at 6am though so look out for those...

also, my work hours will be changing in january so i'll probably shift to tags primarily early in the morning. not entirely sure if that will be the case, but we'll see how things work out!
