Hythlo thinks hsy is The Worst because she's so mean to everybody without even having any dere to go after the tsun and only seems to enjoy being cruel??? It's incomprehensible and terrifying to him, so just, fuck her???? He's absolutely baffled why the hell others seem to be friends with her. He might interrogate Fai and Joonghyuk later because THEY'RE NICE PEOPLE WHY ARE THEY FRIENDS WITH HER?????

sagi is greatly Unsure about... lmao I'm not even sure he had an opportunity to learn her name from anyone at any point yet, hair-trigger temper vore bird lady. he has not forgotten about her mugging him and is unlikely to, he holds grudges for quite a while ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

but, he hasn't caught her doing it indiscriminately since then and he definitely doesn't know about her more recent Mean Girl crimes, plus it was kind of her to give him a painkiller that one time... so he has warmed to her since then, oops! in that he's fairly certain she lashes out because she has Issues rather than being an irredeemably horrible person (he's met those before), or else she wouldn't play nice sometimes and someone nice like yjh wouldn't be friends with her. it just isn't any of his business what those issues are.

from the little he remembers of talking to her before she mugged him, he picked up the impression that specifically asking her something when she wasn't in a mood to talk was what made her get extra mean, which is why he's gone out of his way to pretend he doesn't notice her. and hey, it's worked out! so far...

Toki is starting to like Hien, but doesn't feel a connection to any great degree. He's still ??? about some of the things Hien says, and is suspicious about his intentions. Though he can appreciate Hien's seemingly genuine advice for things. Like Toki, Hana-chan has mixed feelings. Hien is helpful and gives her berries, but she's also wary of his past treatment of Toki. Both of them wouldn't turn down boba with Hien again, so it's a start?

Yoichi is just kind of ??? about Hien too. Only it's gone in the other direction after seeing the monster arm. He's going to avoid Hien if possible.

OK TIME FOR THE LEGIT ANSWER... Hythlo likes Hien A Lot and wishes that his future wasn't predetermined like that because it's? fucked up? :( Would sacrifice himself if it granted Hien a normal happy life 100%. Hien is one of his closest friends here if not The closest, and someone Hythlo would go to with pretty much every problem. Even if it doesn't always work well, STARES AT THE ANGST THREAD.

Hythlo also Does think Hien is cute and deserves more cute things. The reaction to the rowlet doll still killed him on spot. They flirted like two entire times and it was fun? So Hien is kinda in "haha, unless?" territory for Hyth. I'm sorry for my ship crimes.

sagi thinks hien is kind, helpful and very smart ever since they exchanged letters! the weird voice kind of reminds him of a friend from home, which is mildly comforting somehow. hien is on the pretty short mental list of people he's met here who he feels he can go to for advice unprompted, even if that only really takes the form of Pokemon advice right now.

his impression got a little humanised when he found hien and joss beating the shit out of each other in the woods... that kind of thing isn't, like, good. but at least they both seem to acknowledge that it was wrong and have been behaving since then! which is better than nothing! everyone makes mistakes! he will attempt to beat the shit out of both of them at once if it happens again

he doesn't know much about hien's backstory or many weird abilities or other selves or whatever, and... may never ask unless there's a practical reason to find out because those are the only times he's inclined to pry into things like that, lol. it doesn't bother him! hien is nice regardless.

Mask squad! Akira doesn't know everything about Hien but he knows enough, he thinks, to feel like Hien Gets It and would continue to Get It if he ever wanted to talk more about his life. Which he doesn't, of course, but if he did. Just. Hypothetically. He feels like Hien is overall a pretty chill dude, but he's still capable of taking things seriously, which is a great combination.

Toki thinks Hythlo is awesome; a nice man who likes to join him in shenanigans without telling him it's a bad idea. He doesn't really know much about Hythlo, but he doesn't need to. Surely this masked man is just a fun guy with no sad backstory, and they can frolic in blissful fake happiness together. Hana-chan approves.

Yoichi is uncomfortable with Hythlo, what with his nonconsensual storytelling and mood whiplash. He will continue to engage with Hythlo only because of what Yoichi thinks he can get out of it.

more seriously though joss feels awkward because he thinks they really ought to tell hythlo what happened to hades (and elidibus, post-canon update...) but it never really feels like there's a right moment for it... hythlo's emotions are just so volatile and he already seems kind of lonely and homesick but at the same time joss feels there's no kindness in letting the guy think everything's fine and peachy.
maybe this is why being a hermit and not interacting with people is good, actually. can't emotionally hurt people if you don't talk to them, taps 4head.

Hien would absolutely kill someone for Hythlo. :) that someone can't be hsy because that's playercesting and i want her to live despite everything

... That aside, Hien found it surprising that he's made some fast friends in Cassava and one of them is Hythlo. Despite their first meeting being "you look like one the children who are supposed to be dead", things ended up being okay... for the most part after that. When they're not playing emotional pingpong, they actually get along well, despite Hien's slightly tsun tendencies, because Hien knows that moments like these is something that Hythlo is better off with instead of mulling over various trauma and Bad Thoughts. He wants to show Hythlo that despite dying and before returning home (should he want to), you can still enjoy yourself in Cassava. It's a little like Joonghyuk's quote, "you have a choice, but no escape" in that you can choose to still do things as long as you can still move, talk, and do things that the living can do. It circles back to what Hien told Hythlo back at the pokemon grave tower that "people live so that they can have a satisfied death. people live to die" in a way of "you can still try to clear your regrets if possible". Surely, it won't be something like suddenly undoing the death of the world he once knew, and it'll take time to process, but Hien feels like he can't really help Hythlo in that sense, because of what happened back in the inn room where they argued, because Hien is also of the mindset that if you can't help yourself (or willing to), nobody can. His heart feels like it breaks every time Hythlo admits or shows that he wants to die, and that's what really set him off back there. Why do his friends want to die all the time.

Anyway, Hythlo gets a rolling pin, because that's the item that's associated with him due to his back pain and him using it to straighten out the muscles. Don't actually ask me if this works, because I have no idea, but the idea of using it to turn people into figurative putty is a funny thought. At least it's not a marble rolling pin... He's also never outright uncomfortable with Hythlo's occasional flirting, but he IS rather desensitized to it (thanks Renatus), to the point that reacting with tsun actions is so normal to him. Sorry for that, Hythlo. But at least it kinda works? Please keep giving him headpats. He used to be on the receiving side of those and he actually likes them...

tldr hien cares for hythlo a lot and he's secretly glad that he told him to call him by a nickname, because hien absolutely loves shorter names. also it's due to hythlo's suggestion that his flareon is named mimi because mimi is named after his sister and his childhood friend. :') same for his absol that he calls "lorrie", who actually hythlo kinda reminds him of in bits and pieces, except said person is much less emotional.

OH RIGHT mimi likes hythlo for the most part, but like hythlo gets so emotional around hien a lot that mimi is at a loss of what to do sometimes. he hopes hythlo will get that sorted out. people are so weird, man.

Very strange ween woon with an equally strange ween woon way of looking at things, but one that Akira enjoys nonetheless. That one time in the Pokémon Center does not count, it was extenuating circumstances and Akira was unable to articulate or think anything more than "run" or "push him away" for all of it. Up until now it has been all fun and games and flirting with Akira's other self (who for the record is all for continuing to flirt), but something tells me that particular meeting is going to change their CR and take it in a deeper direction.

Toki and Hana-chan like Efi very much, and for some reason she's probably the person Toki would trust most. It might be because she's easier to talk to with the way Toki's mind works. Hana-chan thinks Efi is thoughtful and nice, and seeing her frozen makes Hana-chan sad. :( Save Efi.

Yoichi has no opinion.

Fai is the only one Toki's actually talked to about more serious things, even though he cut that conversation short. He's very comfortable to be around and humours Toki's shenanigans and goes along with things. Hana-chan appreciates his upbeat demeanour, because it also makes Toki happy.

Toki likes Sagi, even though their conversations sometime veer off into ???, but that's usually Toki's fault. Sagi's around his age, and he's less intimidated by Sagi's presence than some of the others. Toki knows he can be annoying, but Sagi at least doesn't show it's bothering him too much. One day, Toki will remember his name for more than twenty seconds. Hana-chan also approves of Sagi, and she's glad she could 'help' him when he was choking.

Yoichi is somewhat confused by Sagi, because they'd had a normal interaction when battling in Mango City, and then the salt lamp incident was like "...okay, then?" and Yoichi doesn't realize he came across as hostile. Resting psycho face. OTL

Toki doesn't have much of an opinion on Joss. He's mainly seen as "this elf guy who saved me" and then was forgotten about for the most part. Hana-chan shares this opinion, and Joss owes her a creme roll. :|

Yoichi paid more attention to the Swablu than Joss and goes back to the battle any time there's a bird opponent. His five year old memories are just ??? "what a weird person".

He's a little worried about him getting dragged into more misadventures by his Pokémon because she seems the mischievous kind but he doesn't know them well so who knows! Surely nothing bad could happen because of Hana-chan.
